Purple Heart Homes Names Steven Johnson Executive Director

Purple Heart Homes is proud to announce that Steven Johnson has been named Executive Director of the organization.

Johnson is no stranger to Purple Heart Homes or to the Veterans it serves. He most recently served as Vice President of Manufacturing, where he led the organization's efforts to deliver high-quality homes for Veterans at greater scale. In his new role, he will guide the day-to-day operations of the organization as it continues its mission of providing housing solutions for service-connected disabled and aging Veterans.

A Life of Service

Before joining Purple Heart Homes, Johnsons served more than 27 years in the U.S. Army, with multiple deployments to Iraq, Kosovo, and Bosnia. After retiring from military service in October 2018, he founded Cross Cannons Construction Company, where he served as Principal Owner and President.

It was through Cross Cannons that Johnson first connected with Purple Heart Homes. He and his team completed numerous projects and volunteers events alongside the organization, building homes and building trust with the Veterans who would live in them. That partnership eventually became a calling, and Johnson joined the Purple Heart Homes team full time.

Leading the Mission Forward

Johnson steps into the Executive Director role at a pivotal moment for the organization. As a combat Veteran himself, he brings a firsthand understanding of the challenges facing the men and women Purple Heart Homes serves. His background in construction and manufacturing positions the organization to continue increasing both the quality and the number of homes delivered to Veterans across the county.
