“Regardless of when you served, where you served … we’re all the same,” Beatty said. “They just need to know that somebody does care about them...We wouldn’t leave someone behind on the battlefield. Why would we do it at home?”
In 2008, Dale co-founded Purple Heart Homes alongside his battle buddy John Gallina. Together, they transformed their personal challenges into a national movement focused on providing housing solutions for aging and disabled Veterans. Dale understood early on that this work was about more than homes. It was about restoring dignity, independence, and hope.
“We want to make those changes that make their life easier, safer, just better,” Beatty said.
He was a natural leader who was humble and approachable. Whether swinging a hammer, speaking at an event, or sitting quietly with a fellow Veteran, Dale made everyone feel valued and heard.
Although Dale passed away in 2018, the mark he left on Purple Heart Homes and the Veteran community is profound. Every ramp built and every home transformed reflects his vision and dedication. Dale’s mission was about more than just housing. It was about creating a network of support where Veterans feel valued and empowered. His life teaches us that compassion and community are the greatest sources of strength.
Dale Beatty’s story is one of resilience and unwavering purpose. He turned personal challenges into a mission that continues to grow and inspire. His commitment to service did not end with his time in uniform but lives on in the daily work of Purple Heart Homes. As we move forward, Dale’s spirit guides us to serve with heart, honor, and determination. We celebrate his memory by continuing the work he cared so deeply about.
