Jose Ramos

A lifelong servant-leader with more than 25 years of commitment to public safety, national defense, grassroots advocacy, and community empowerment. Born in Arecibo, Puerto Rico, I began my career as a Police Officer in 1994, building a foundation of discipline, responsibility, and public service that has guided my life. In 2000, I joined the U.S. Army, serving in Infantry and Special Operations units with deployments to Iraq, Afghanistan, Eastern Europe, and South America. My military career, marked by sacrifice and resilience, led me to receive the Purple Heart for wounds sustained in combat.

After retiring from the Army, I expanded my leadership into the nonprofit and advocacy space serving as a Grassroots Director. In this role, I mobilized communities, built coalitions, and lobbied at both the North Carolina Legislature and the U.S. Congress. This work directly contributed to the passage of laws that improved benefits and resources for veterans and their families, amplifying their voices and securing meaningful change.

Having since relocated back to Puerto Rico, I continue to serve my community in new ways. In my free time, I volunteer with veteran organizations, support local initiatives, and remain active in martial arts as a means of promoting discipline, personal growth, and mentorship—helping others develop resilience, character, and purpose.
