We are incredibly grateful to Love United Iredell for selecting Purple Heart Homes as a featured organization in their 2025 campaign. This opportunity allows us to share our mission and raise awareness about the critical housing needs of veterans in our community.

On this episode of Love United Iredell, we shared the heart behind Purple Heart Homes—how we started, why we exist, and how we continue to serve veterans of all eras by providing safe, accessible housing solutions. Founded in 2008 by John Gallina and the late Dale Beatty, PHH was born from their personal experience returning home from the Iraq War. Dale, a double amputee, faced a world not built for his needs. John, a custom home builder, stepped in to modify Dale’s home, unknowingly laying the foundation for an organization that would go on to transform thousands of lives.

Join Us: Help Raise $5,000 for a Veteran’s Ramp Project

As highlighted in the episode, the cost of building an accessibility ramp has more than doubled in recent years, jumping from $2,500 pre-COVID to $5,000 today. This increase makes it even harder for veterans with mobility challenges to safely enter and exit their homes.

From February 1 - 28, 2025, we are asking our community to come together and help us raise $5,000 to fund a ramp for a veteran in need. A small donation can make a life-changing impact:

💜 $5 - Every bit counts toward building a safe and accessible entrance.
💜 $25 - Helps cover materials like nails and screws.
💜 $100 - Supports the installation of handrails for added safety.
💜 $500 - Covers a significant portion of the lumber and construction costs.

This isn’t just about a ramp—it’s about freedom, dignity, and independence. Veterans should never feel trapped in their own homes, and together, we can make sure they have the accessibility they deserve.
