Veteran Receives New Home From Local Nonprofit

U.S. Army veteran Donald Surratt now has a safe and stable home thanks to Purple Heart Homes and the support of his community. What began as a simple request for a roof repair on his 1950s-era family home turned into a full rebuild after it was discovered the structure was beyond repair. Surratt, a 72-year-old Vietnam-era Military Police veteran who cared for his late son, was honored during a heartfelt Mission Complete ceremony celebrating the project’s completion. With the help of 47 community partners and more than $60,000 in in-kind donations, this project stands as a powerful example of what can be achieved when a community comes together to support its veterans.
