John Gallina, co-founder of Purple Heart Homes, has spent the past 15 years turning personal tragedy into meaningful service for aging and disabled veterans. After surviving two IED blasts during his deployment in Iraq, one of which critically injured his close friend and fellow soldier, Dale Beatty, Gallina dedicated his life to helping others. Together, they launched Purple Heart Homes in 2008 with just $1,500 and a vision to make a difference. Since then, their nonprofit has completed $42 million in housing projects for over 2,000 veterans across the country.

Now, Gallina is expanding his mission by running for a seat in North Carolina’s House of Representatives. Driven by a desire to put people before politics, he hopes to bring the same compassion and integrity that built Purple Heart Homes into public service. Despite facing personal and political challenges, including threats to his nonprofit’s funding, Gallina remains steadfast in his commitment to providing veterans and voters the support and representation they deserve.
