Veteran's Story: Larry Fox

Last Updated 8/23/2025Posted in Veteran Stories

At Purple Heart Homes, we remain committed to ensuring that our nation's Veterans can age safely and comfortably in their homes. Through our Veterans Aging in Place (VAIP) Program, and with support from our partner, The Home Depot Foundation, we recently completed a project for U.S. Army Veteran Larry Fox in Monroe City, Indiana.

Larry's Service

Larry Fox was born in 1967 and served in the U.S. Army from June 1987 to June 1992, during the Gulf War era. He was honorably discharged at the rank of E-4 and remains an active part of the Veteran community as a member of the VFW.

Larry's service came with challenges that impact his daily life today, including PTSD, leg issues, and hearing loss. Despite these difficulties, he continues to represent the values of resilience and service that define our nation's heroes.

Meeting the Need

When Larry reach out to us, he was in urgent need of new flooring in his home. This project was especially impactful because it not only supported Larry but also improved the living conditions for the three additional family members who share his home.

The Project

Led by Project Manager Matt Stevenson, our team delivered new, safe, and durable flooring that addressed the challenges Larry was facing. This repair provides greater stability, safety, and comfort, ensuring that Larry and his family can continue to live independently in their home.

Gratitude for Our Partners

This project would not have been possible without the ongoing support of The Home Depot Foundation, whose generosity continues to transform the lives of Veterans nationwide. Together with their partnership, we are able to provide housing solutions that directly impact quality of life for service-connected and aging Veterans.

Call to Action

At Purple Heart Homes, we believe no Veteran should struggle to live safely and independently in their own home. Projects like Larry's are possible only through the compassion of partners, volunteers, and supporters.
